Des is a hydrotechnical engineer with a strong technical background in hydrology, numerical modeling, river behavior assessment, and the design of erosion and scour countermeasures for bridge and pipeline crossings. He played a key role in developing the bridge scour evaluation program for the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and has managed six consecutive studies as part of that program.

Since 2011, Des has overseen multiple regional and province-wide General Hydrotechnical Engineering Services Contracts for the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure. His recent projects include the BC Bridge Scour Evaluation Program and the Highway 29 Relocation Project. Over his career, Des has worked on more than 800 bridge and culvert crossings.
