Travis specializes in computer-aided drafting and design for civil engineering projects. Skilled in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, he focuses on 3D modeling, terrain analysis, and the preparation of construction documents. His background also includes field surveying, industrial piping, concrete channel design, and cost estimating.
We recently sat down with Travis to learn more about what drew him to this career and here’s what he had to say:
What inspired you to pursue this career?
“One thing that inspired me to pursue this career in water engineering is that I grew up in an area in Kansas that suffered from severe flooding. Flooding was something that concerned a lot of people and how to prevent it and how to protect human life and property was a very important thing. And so for me, it made a huge imprint upon me.”
What is a typical day like for you?
“A typical day for me is applying designs in a real world environment, making sure that designs work, they’re constructable, and they make sense. “
What types of projects do you work on?
“Some projects that I’ve worked have ranged from the shores of Lake Tahoe to the deserts in Coachella Valley, to even rail crossings in Hawaii. It’s been a wide range of projects and opportunities of things to work on. “
