Derek is a specialist in surface water hydrology, hydraulics, and water quality modeling and analysis, with experience on over one hundred projects involving urban streams and river systems. His work encompasses analysis of observed and simulated flow and water quality data, temperature modeling, hydrology, geomorphic assessments, pollutant source and transport characterization, municipal stormwater permit support, flood hazard assessment, reservoir navigation studies, numerical modeling, GIS applications, and hydrometric data collection.

Currently, Derek focuses on assisting clients with stormwater programs and applying computer models to evaluate stream hydrology and water quality challenges. His expertise spans stormwater and urban hydrology, river restoration, flood hazard assessment and mapping, 1D and 2D numerical modeling, river and reservoir water quality modeling, watershed pollutant source characterization, Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) studies, and hydrometric data collection.
