Bruce is a river engineer with extensive experience in floodplain studies, bank assessment and erosion protection design, and bridge and pipeline crossing design. He has led hydrotechnical assessment and design for major projects in British Columbia, including the Sea-to-Sky Highway Improvement Project between Horseshoe Bay and Whistler, the Vancouver Island Highway Project between Dove Creek and Campbell River, and the hydraulic design of the Golden Ears, Pitt River, and Port Mann bridges. He has also contributed to international projects in Brazil, Africa, and Asia.

Bruce’s technical expertise spans hydrological analysis, field data collection and surveys, hydraulic analysis and modeling in rivers and estuaries, and the design of dikes, river training structures, and sediment control works. He has assessed flood hazards using numerical models and GIS-based flood risk mapping and conducted geomorphic studies to evaluate channel erosion and sedimentation hazards on alluvial fans and river floodplains.
